The City of Rufus is considering a referral of a new City Charter to the voters of Rufus for the upcoming November Election. The proposed Charter is intended to modernize the city's governing framework, clarify the roles and responsibilities of elected officials and staff and update provisions that no longer reflect current state law or community needs. If adopted by the voters, the new Charter would replace the city's existing Charter in its entirety.
The City of Rufus considering a referral of a new motor vehicle fuel tax to the voters of Rufus for the upcoming November Election. This ordinance would:
· Impose a one-cent ($0.01) per gallon Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax on all motor vehicle fuel sold or distributed within the city limits;
· Require monthly reporting and tax remittance in alignment with Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) requirements;
· Establish dealer licensing, penalties, recordkeeping, and audit authority.
The City of Rufus is considering
· Impose a 3% tax on all transient lodging stays of fewer than 30 days, including hotels, motels, RV parks, short-term rentals (STRs), Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), and rooms rented in private residences;
· Require quarterly tax remittance;
· Allow operators a 5% administrative fee for collecting and submitting taxes;
· Establish reporting, recordkeeping, penalties, and audit requirements;
· If adopted, the ordinance will take effect 30 days after adoption.
FEMA is working with the state of Oregon, Sherman County, and the cities of Moro, Grass Valley, Wasco and Rufus to use new data and technology to update your Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM). The new map will better represent the risk of flooding in Sherman County
